Support your nervous system, starting today

Better sleep, less overwhelm, and a gentler way to reset can start with one simple daily ritual. ZenBud was designed to fit into real life, so support feels easier to come back to.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is ZenBud different from other vagus nerve stimulators or VNS devices?

ZenBud is the first to use ultrasound for VNS. Traditional VNS devices (you may have seen ear clips or neck stimulators) use electrical currents to stimulate the nerve, which can cause a prickling sensation and often only penetrate shallowly. ZenBud’s ultrasound tech goes deeper without any discomfort. It’s like the difference between a light surface massage and one that actually works a bit deeper into the muscle. This means you get potentially more effective stimulation that feels comfortable. Plus, ZenBud’s headset design ensures consistent contact with the exact nerve area – no fiddling with electrode placement each time. It’s VNS 2.0.

Can I quantify the effects of ZenBud on my body?

Absolutely – that’s the fun part! We recommend tracking metrics like HRV, resting heart rate, and stress index via your preferred wearable or app. Many users see acute changes: for example, an increase in HRV and decrease in heart rate within 5-10 minutes of a session. Over a longer term (weeks), you might notice higher baseline HRV and lower daily stress scores. Subjectively, pay attention to how you sleep on days you use ZenBud (users report more restful nights). Since ZenBud is non-invasive, you can experiment freely – try using it after a hard workout vs. a rest day and observe differences. We’re excited to hear what you discover; many beta users have been sharing data on forums and the results are inspiring.

How often and when should I use it?

For general vagus toning and stress maintenance, we suggest once a day for 5 minutes (for example, as part of your morning or evening wind-down). However, you can use ZenBud multiple times a day as needed. Some users do a short session in the morning to start calm, another in afternoon to combat the post-lunch dip or work stress, and one before bed to prime for sleep. It’s really up to your needs – just like you might drink coffee for a boost, use ZenBud for relaxation boosts. ZenBud can be used more frequently, but even regular daily use should yield benefits. Listen to your body and data; you might find your sweet spot.

Do I need to apply any gel or pads?

Not at all. ZenBud was designed to feel effortless from the moment you put it on. There’s no gel and no complicated preparation required. Just adjust the headset comfortably and start your session in seconds.

Is this FDA-approved or medically certified?

ZenBud is a general wellness device. It is not a medical device and has not been reviewed or cleared by the FDA. It is manufactured in the US and self-certified to the IEC 60601-2-5 electrical and ultrasound safety standard, and it carries a CE mark for the European market. CE marking is a European conformity assessment and does not indicate US regulatory approval. Research on ultrasound and electrical stimulation of the auricular vagus nerve is ongoing; findings from that literature relate to the technology class, not to ZenBud specifically. ZenBud is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease or disorder. Individual results may vary. We focus on wellness and performance enhancement. Always be sure to read our disclaimer and use ZenBud as intended (for relaxation/training, not as a substitute for medical treatment).

What does the session sound/feel like?

Sound: The device itself remains quiet during use unless you choose to play audio through the built-in audio feature. ZenBud sessions are designed to feel calm, subtle, and easy to integrate into your routine without distracting sounds or interruptions.

Feel: Most people feel very little physically during a session, though some may notice a gentle sensation around the pads or a mild feeling of relaxation as the session progresses. The updated headset and redesigned pads were created to feel more comfortable and supportive during use. If you ever feel discomfort, we recommend shortening your session time or adjusting the fit of the headset.

Can I use ZenBud while doing other things (like work, chores)?

You should be in a relatively stationary, relaxed position – e.g. sitting or lying down. This ensures the earbud stays in place and your body can fully engage the parasympathetic response. That said, you can still do calm activities: some users read, listen to music, or work at their computer during sessions. Just avoid rigorous physical activity or anything requiring full concentration (we don’t recommend driving with it on, for example, as it may make you too relaxed or distracted). But yes, feel free to answer emails or sip tea while ZenBud is running. It’s meant to integrate into your life seamlessly.
