ZenBud neuromodulation for improving brain and mental health

ZenBud neuromodulation for improving brain and mental health

While brain stimulation is already used in research and hospital settings, this approach can only scale if it can be used at home. I got excited about NeurGear’s technology early on as the Zenbud at-home system uses ultrasound which largely avoids the side effects seen for electrical stimulation.

Zenbuds are ideal as there is also an option to obtain sham (inactive) devices which cannot be distinguished from normal Zenbuds by participants. This allows us to run studies with control groups as well.

With a track record of neurotechnology innovation, including the development of MRI, we are keen on developing and testing novel solution for brain and mental health. In our N3 Neurotechnology Centre at the University of Nottingham we run several Zenbud studies from improving cognition in healthy participants to tests in anxiety, depression, tinnitus, and chronic pain populations.

Our pilot results already show improved memory and mood and we are currently starting studies in patients to observe immediate and long-term improvements.
